Help Please!

Can anyone fill me in on what happened in the first half of tonight's According to Jim?  I only saw the last 15 minutes and was not able to understand very many of the jokes.  It seemed like a particularly funny episode, so I am wondering whether anyone out there in the blogosphere would be kind enough answer a few of my questions.
